Because Candy Says So...

I was editing my Friendster sites(yes I have 2 accounts) and saw a couple of pictures that means more to me than merely just adding the caption "with Nicole in Libis" etc. Indeed pictures can paint a thousand words and these pictures reminds me of the lessons that I've learned along the way. Some entries may sound a bit Dr. Phil-ish but all of the words are all based on my realization. I can do a lot of blog entries like this! (IDEA KACHING KACHING) hehe:) I so love pictures and putting captions on them can be another thing. Hope you guys enjoy this entry.

**Teach a child to do things! (teaching Ardee how to color)**

Teach a child to do things and they will remember you. I can still clearly recall who taught me how to tie my laces -- Tita Lissa:), how to color inside the lines -- Mommy, how to brush my hair -- Lola, how to keep my hair clean and "kuto free"hehe:)- Tita Dina.. etc.

**Bring out the inner child in you:)**

A thing that worked for me when I'm down in the dumps and want to have a quick mood booster, is to see my sister Nicole or my cousin Sacha. They remind me of how we used to be when we were young. Carefree, Young and FULL OF HOPE that there is a BIG TOMORROW ahead of us. So I made this mantra for my sister and cousin, WHEN SAD, JUST REMEMBER HOW WE ARE WHEN WE WERE YOUNG-- and you know where to reach me. :)

**CAUTION SHALLOW WATER, NO DIVING...**

I noticed this picture and saw the sign behind us. Indeed true. It has been a tried and tested thing that the stuff that works in life are those with strong foundations. Sometimes we dive ahead not knowing what's ahead of us, and if the water is shallow we get hurt. Same goes with relationships, always face it like there's a warning sign and don't go for the "kilig(shallow)" feelings right away. Just go for it when you know that it's deep enough, with a foundation. Mic and I started from strangers to colleagues, friends to best friends and now partners in life. MICMAC = my part time lover full time best friend for life...AND IT WORKS FOR ME.

Nuff said. I heard from a friend that there's this girl who keeps on checking my Friendster and then talks shit about me. Girlie, the news keeps on reaching me. You don't know me to judge me, and it won't matter anyway. Piece of advice, save the effort and move on with your life. Insecure girls talk about other girls. Quit it and do a favor for your self esteem:)

**Conquered my fear of deep water-- Childhood dream: Be Ariel of Little Mermaid:) *check**

It was a lot of gathered strength and courage. At first I thought I will quit. I hyperventilated the first try, but I said to myself, I'm not going home with no stories and UNDERWATER PICTURES! So that's it! All I thought was my passion of having pictures and I did it. A very liberating experience. DARE TO CONQUER YOUR FEARS. IT'S A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE.

Some events in our life are unexplainable and still have a lot of hanging questions. Though how painful this events may be, it happened for a reason. And sometimes, you don't have to hear the answer from the person/people who caused the pain. Sometimes all you need to do is find the answers yourself and learn to know yourself more.

Music is made for the soul. It's amazing how music can speak to your heart and sometimes we can relate to them. The irony of it is that it makes you feel you are not alone in the world who felt the exact same emotion you felt through the words of the song. For me, it made me feel that I'm not journeying alone.

SIDE STORIES.. I have a lot of them. I found this pic and said YES THIS IS THE PIC! -- that started the spark of my new found life. It changed me and it nudged me of what I wanted my life should be. I don't want to dance alone anymore:) AND IT HAPPENED!

I love it when I see this 2 girls. At a young age, they've become friends(they just turned 3). And they love each other and kiss each other. It's just so sweet. I love a friendship like that, innocent and sweet. I still have a few friends who were my friends from the innocent and sweet stage and still is my friend up to now at my SWEET ONLY stage. Hahaha:)

I keep on buying small cute stuff. I think it's sort of RETAIL THERAPY. Well I noticed my number of "abubut" when I packed my stuff and moved out that I have plenty of them..some were even not used at all.. Well what I did was gave some to my sister Nicole and some to daughters of friends. :) No regrets. It made other people happy and I won't keep myself on my next impulse on buying that cute thingy.

When we cross bridges in our life and it's a bit shaky, it's not the end of everything. Quakes in our life teaches us to be calm and composed, time for yourself to think of the next great step. Slowly step by step, you'll be able to reach on a solution. Sometimes there's a raft waiting at the end to save us. Doesn't mean that you're done with trying, it's just that your on a better path on surviving:)

Yes I was a smoker and I did quit cold turkey style. It's hard especially during stressful days and you're used to de-stress using a stick. This habit used to comfort me at times I can't get anyone to run to but still it's BAD HABIT. It serves it's purpose when I needed it at the moment but it will slowly kill me. So just like bad relationships that can be addictive, I tossed this just like that:) It taught me something, DETERMINATION. It's almost a year and I'm enjoying the smoke free lifestyle.

WORK + FUN = BYE BYE STRESS - trying to stick to this formula. Hehe!

There are places and things that we didn't attend to because we have to do something else. One thing I learned about regretting not going to places and events is not to worry if you can't make it at that moment. Sometimes there is a bigger surprise waiting. No hurries, live life day by day.

People say I'm very animated when telling stories. Sometimes I can make a corny joke sound.. ok not funny but more corny... because I'm like acting along with it. That is just my thing. Watch me when I talk:) haha!

My grandma is 70 years old and she can still pass for someone that look like my mom. She's very conscious about her health. She's into vegan lifestyle, still very much updated in fashion, goes to the gym regularly and still have her complete set of PERMANENT TEETH:) She's an inspiration for me.

Before Facebook, Multiply and Myspace -- Friendster hit the Philippines by storm more than 5 years ago(i think) and it's still an in thing now. It's been a while since I last checked my Friendster Account. When I opened my account, I was shocked to see that my comments page was flooded with graphic greeting from my cousin Yela. Though I love all the visuals, it made me want to go through all the testimonials again and read the testimonials that says more about me, rather than and html code with visuals. Gone were the days when a testimonial is something that you'll invest time on doing because you have to compose a heartwarming, funny or "mushy" anecdote for a friend, family or loved one. Here are the testimonials that I love:) I gathered them in one entry so I will easily be reminded whenever I need to perk myself up. I'll just go back to this entry and read this things over again;) Reading these made me feel better after a stressful day at work but also made me miss them. Hope I can find time to catch up with them one day.

* Candy is one of the best friends a guy
could ever have. She is really fun to
be with even when your in a bad mood.
She'll be there for you if you need
help. I've known her since we were
very little. Ha! to all the fond
memories. I hope things will always
stay the same. Where else can you find
a girl who is pretty, kind,
understanding, fun, smart, and has a
strong personality? She sure is one in
a million! But beware her dark side.
Sweet as she is, she'll eat you up
when she gets angry. hahaha! that's
her. Kind, sweet, etc. but is no fool.

* I've known her for a couple of years
already, no joke! It's because I always
hear "Candice"'s from Teatrong Busko.
And though I've never really met her, I
also have never heard any negative
thing about her... One thing that makes

creature... candice is a very very
weird lass (at least for me) coz
whenever she's around i can sense if
something is wrong with her or
something strange... well kaya siguro
pag nakakasama ko siya medyo i talk a
lot of things not knowing why. like
what she said i can sense it if she
have probs or what and beside from the
fact that i can read it through her
eyes i can also feel her aura kung ok
siya or hindi... but the greatest
thing about this gurl is, you'll feel
very good and great when you're around
her, you'll feel like you're the
luckiest person alive at least that's
how i feel when i'm with her! coz this
gurl is surely a great catch! luv yah

* Candy Aquino....I used to think she was a bit snobbish at the office at first before I had a conversation with her.. (feeling kasi ng babae na to na lahat may crush sa kanya mapa lalake man or tibo) hehehe joke!
Anyway...All my misconceptions about her were blown away when I had the chance to exchange a few laughs with her. She is sassy, she is classy, she is witty, she is cool... very cool. She always finds the time to be with her friends even though her schedule seem always booked till the end of the year for this girl. She really is heaven-sent to her family, her friends, her co-workers, and to a very lucky guy.
Looking forward to more laughs and more surprises! Mabuhay ka Candy Aquino!

twisted sisters

A sister can be seen as someone who is both ourselves and very much not ourselves - a special kind of double. ~Toni Morrison

My sister was born when I was four years old. An answered prayer because I really wanted to have a sister. That time all I wished for was a playmate. Someone who I can share my Barbies and Play Dohs. My excitement of having a baby sister made me very hands on in taking care of her.

I've seen every stage of her life. Her first word was "cha-anen" and she always say that when she sees the Sprite Fido Dido commercial. She played as a ballerina in her first school presentation way back her preschool days. She was given the Most Jolly award during her preschool graduation. Her first crush was CJ Ramos of Ang TV when she was 7years old. She has a Winnie the Pooh security pillow that she can't live without until now. I can go on and on and narrate all the things I've witnessed and seen about her. All I can say is that I was there and I've seen them all.

When Nicole was in preschool, her teacher called our mom's attention because Nicole kept on telling stories about me. My mom talked to me about it and she said that Nicole looks up to me as an Ate so I have to be a role model to her. That's when the "sister" role started to sink in. I have to be responsible over my actions because I have a younger sister who idolizes me. It was flattering to know that my sister loves to be like me because I have friends who were not meshing well with their sisters. At least for me and Nicole, we are never rivals.

As much as Nicole looks up to me, there were times when I also disappointed her. But every time I did something wrong, she was the first to know. She's always there as a confidante, listener and a ready hug anytime I need one. She's also the person I talk to when I need a "brutally" honest answer. She will never pretend a compliment if there's nothing nice to say. She has this way of pulling off criticisms and addressing it to me in a sweet way. She sees my failures as lessons for the two of us. She never judged me for my mistakes but on how I pick myself up. Her presence in my life inspires me to be always at my best.

Nicole and I talk, laugh and sound alike. We both have smiling faces. We have the same tastes in clothes, movies, music etc. We share our stuffs to one another. Our bonding time is in the bathroom. Ha ha! We can talk about anything under the sun non-stop. We are well updated of each other's daily lives. Like me, she can easily make friends too. She is even friends with my friends. Yet even if we have a lot of things in common, we are also different in more ways than one. She is the singer, I'm the dancer. She fancies "boy-next-door" type when it comes to crushes, while I'm attracted to the "bad-boy-type" Ha ha! She's the athletic one, I'm the artistic one. She's morena, I'm mestiza looking. When angry, she's quiet and I'm the one who flares up. She's into black eyeliners, while I'm into white eyeliners. She's into loud color nail polishes, while I'm into the neat, clean trim only. But even with our differences, we never allow it to be annoying one other. There are times that we quarrel or argue, or should I say most of the time (Ha ha!) but that never created a wall between us.

For me having a sister is also a training on how to become a good friend because having a sister is like having a best friend you can't get rid off. You know whatever you do, they'll still be there. So you have to accept her individuality, embrace her flaws and love her unconditionally. I'm so blessed to have Nicole as a sister.
